For everybody waiting to see if the payments were really going to go out and the program is for real, the wait is over and it’s for real. The following is from the ONC announcement:
- On May 19, 2011, the Medicare EHR Incentive Program issued the first round of payments totaling $75 million to providers who signed up in the first two weeks of the program.
“Through the EHR incentive programs, we are helping eligible providers invest in their technology infrastructure,” said Farzad Mostashari, MD, ScM., National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. “But this isn’t just about technology. The goal is better and safer health care, and that means it’s about patients — about their health care and protection of their information.”

It seems like a buch of B.S. The payments for 300 eps is rediculous. It claims it gave out more then 75 million for incentive payments, but for 300 eps the maximum amount paid out would equall $540,000.00 Where did the other 74 million go? If they can only process 300 a week,it may take 10 years to make round one payments.
Have you had any of your clients receive EHR payment? If so how many?
Steven,
Apologies for the delayed response, way to far behind! No payments yet, first doctor completed attestation back in July. Projected time to payment after completing attestation is 60-90 days, we’ll update everyone as soon as we hear back from the first group of doctors who have completed attestation.
Steven,
Update, so for two have received the $18k maximum for 2011. A number have completed the attestation process, but have not been paid yet as payment is withheld until the year is over if the provider has less than the maximum (makes sense as doctors will continue to add to their totals over the remainder of the year, so in order to make only one payment per year checks are not issued until the maximum is reached or the period ends).
